Even though it feels like summer just started, it's (shockingly) nearing to an end. School will be starting in the next month or so, which means back to reality for a lot of people. So it's the perfect time to get out of town while you can and soak in all those carefree summer vibes. Whether it's a stay-cation or a exotic get-away, we have some suggestions on what to pack so you don't look like a... 'ehem...tourist.

Going to the Beach?

We personally think North Carolina has the best beaches in the country, but maybe we're just a bit partial.
Great spots we recommend:

1. Bald Head Island- Board the ferry at Southport and leave the car behind! Only golf carts are allowed on this uncommercialized quaint little island. Enjoy golf, a game of croquet, or go check out Old Baldy--the island's lighthouse. Bald Head is perfect for a family get-away, a girl's weekend, or a romantic retreat. You will definitely be on "island time" while you're there!

2. Beaufort- It doesn't get much cuter than this. Beaufort is all your Nicholas Spark's books fantasies come to life. Ride bikes through the historic neighborhoods, grab some of the best fresh seafood you'll ever taste, and keep a look out for wild horses across the water on Carrot Island.

So what should you pack? Nothing's easier to pack for then the beach. Think versatile pieces that can double as cover-ups and be jazzed up with some jewelry if you're going out to dinner.

1. We love the polish and classic vibe of this printed collared shirt for a round of golf or mimosas and croquet. 2. A denim shirtdress should be your best friend. Not only could you throw it over your swimsuit, but it can totally be dressed up with a pair of wedges..or even cowboy boots. Perfect for a bike ride around Beaufort. 3. Wedges are just casual enough to be comfy (a beach essential) and just dressy enough for those heel lovers. This buttery leather color goes with just about anything! 4. The blue and white stripes on this maxi pay homage to the nautical theme--and the classic cut and soft cotton make it easy to just throw on and go. 5. The chevron stripes are right on trend! This bag is large enough to fit all your beach neccessities, and when you're done with it, it can lay completely flat--so you don't have to worry about it hogging up too much trunk space.

Or the Mountains..

All beached out? Ready for a little adventure? Our suggestions for some great Mountain get-aways are:

1. DuPont State Forest- That little movie--have you heard of it--The Hunger Games--was filmed here. Complete with waterfalls and hiking trails, it's the perfect place to set up a picnic and take in a big breath of nature. It's only a short drive from Asheville too...so you don't feel like you are too out of touch with society.

2. Lake Lure- Another backdrop of a famous movie--Dirty Dancing! Lake Lure is great for families and offers the calmness and serenity of the lake, as well as kayaking, hiking, and beautiful resort properties such as Rumbling Bald. There are also lots of little winding rivers in the surrounding area where you can set up camp or hop in a tube and drift down the river.

So what to wear? Think eclectic, bohemian, and functional. Tap into your inner hippie and borrow a lot of inspiration from nature. And unless you plan on getting a major calf workout--think flats, not heels.

1. Perfect for a hike paired with a colorful tank or cotton t-shirt. 2. This eclectic print is perfect for that night out in Asheville. The swing style shift is easy to move in and the print will surely impress the artsy locals. 3. These little shorties let your legs breath, and the soft worn leather will help ward off the blisters. Pair with skinny jeans and a cute top. 4. Since it's usually a few degrees colder up in that mountain air, this is perfect layering piece for when you get a little chilly. It even has a hood. 5. The navajo-inspired print and airy style of this top will allow you to blend in at the farmer's market while still making a fashion statement. 6. From the bohemian princess herself-- Nicole Richie's House of Harlow line is simple yet striking with architectural qualities and nature inspired textures. Perfect with a t-shirt and jeans or a party dress.
